NINE, the film…

One response to “NINE, the film…

  1. Nine is a movie about the theatrical musical comedy of the same name, based on the film “81/2” which was CONCEIVED AND DIRECTED by Federico Fellini…

“8 1/2 “, the film, is a work of art, full of poetry, surrealistic images, passionate interpretations, stunning black and white cinematography, gorgeous, evocative music and genial twists and turns that ultimately inspired NINE, the theatrical musical comedy on Broadway that was full of magic, enchanting songs, powerful actors, singers and dancers that lifted the show to a complete new dimension and payed homage to the essence of the main character= Guido Contini= and his artistic and personal struggles with the women in his life…

nine, the movie, is a hyperkinetic and yet boring version of an immature pseudo-italian skinny guy from Milano that is a fake and a louche and is really a mama’s boy and wants his wife to be a saint and his lovers to be whores…
which seems to be an universal fantasy with a certain type of guy-…

daniel day lewis, despite his amazing abilities as a well trained film actor is definetely NOT italian and it does not convey PASSION in any situation with his women…

rob marshall, the director of this “movie” uses hyper-kinetic editing and montage effects to cover deficiencies in most of the musical numbers and puts plenty of glitz and some bombastic dance numbers and yet it never comes close to creating a magical theatrical/film moment…

the saving pieces and little grace in this movie are the scenes played by marion cotillard as the suffering wife, Luisa and the plagiarized images filmed in black and white and copied from the fellini’s film ” 8 1/2 “…

penelope cruz is a very courageous actress who dares to show her real face and her rounded mediterranean body …

nicole kidman, sofia loren, are wasted in their meaningless roles…

judy dench is in the wrong movie with the wrong role…

and marcello mastroianni, claudia cardinale, sandra milo, anouk aimee, get better and better and better with each additional viewing of Federico Fellini’s film “8 1/2 “…

    what do you think ???
